With experiential learning in mind, Drama teacher, Stephanie Lowe, organised for professional Actor Alistair Brammer to visit Hillsview Academy for an afternoon working with students with an interest, passion and talent for Drama. Having starred most recently in the BBC series of Casualty and with huge West End Credits, his fame and humility inspired the students. Aspiration is key to success, and we at Hillsview are keen to model this for the students. With the workshops coinciding with the Options Evening at Hillsview, it was a superb opportunity for the students to make the connection between the subject choices they make and the subsequent journey it will lead them on. The students appeared to gain a lot from the experience, which was very pleasing to see!

Before leaving the Academy Alistair stated,“I was delighted to be invited to come and do some theatre workshops with the students. I didn't know what to expect but was blown away by the vast majority of the students at Hillsview. They were responsive, engaged and interested. The students didn't need too much encouragement at all and within the space of an hour I could really see their boundaries being pushed. The exemplary behaviour from most, and their willingness to be involved reminded me of how much drama did for me at school, for my confidence and my self belief. It was a joy to take these workshops and a joy sharing time with the students at Hillsview!”
